Blanchat Machine Company Announces New COO

WICHITA— August 13, 2003  - Blanchat Machine Company, Inc. (“Blanchat”), an aerospace manufacturer, announces that Kevin L. Smith joins the company as its new chief operating officer.  Clay C. Prince, will continue in his role of chief executive officer, overseeing the strategic direction of the company.

Smith’s primary responsibility will be oversight of operations, with an emphasis on improving operational efficiencies, utilizing his proven track record with lean manufacturing, management information systems, process control and customer relationship management.  With 24 years in the aviation industry, Smith brings a wealth of executive management experience in both operations and business development. Prior to joining Blanchat, Smith served as vice president, general manager and chief operating officer of Southwest Manufacturing Company in Wichita.  Before his position at Southwest, Smith spent 21 years with Cessna Aircraft Company in various leadership positions over Operations, Materials, Management Information Systems, and Long-Term Strategic Planning.  Smith was certified in Lean Manufacturing design and implementation by the University of Tennessee - Knoxville during his tenure with Cessna.
